Originally from Hong Kong, jewellery designer/ maker, Karen Lee, first attended San Diego State University in United States for her Bachelor Degree in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing. Since then Karen has worked in various jewellery/ metal studios, jewellery gallery and companies before she joined the jewellery design teaching team in the Hong Kong Design Institute in Hong Kong. She then furthered her studies in jewellery and silversmithing by completing her Master Degree in Edinburgh College of Art of the University of Edinburgh in United Kingdom.

 

Inspired by natural organic forms and microorganisms, Karen is specialized in artful and sculptural jewellery with special attention to surface texture and tactility. By incorporating the techniques of hammer forming and chasing and repousse into the jewellery making process, as well as fabricating and different surface embellishment, Karen aims to explore and fully utilize the three dimensional potential of metals.
